I believe we should look more into John Hancock’s ship, it is not too popular to know about. The class is also trying to find information that most people do not know, like about John Hancock’s ship. Also we need to look more in depth to smuggling, and everything the colonists were doing to avoid the taxes.

I think that the background information about the settlers and how that evolved into slave trade could potentially be helpful in our research. We have already researched a little bit of the different trade markets and how slaves came into play there, but i think it would be interesting to look further into that as a way to get a more holistic view.

I believe the information about the travel and trade of the settlers is important for our research especially as is connects to the slave trade. Understanding what these people went through to make it to the “new world” and how the promise of hope was quickly taken away upon arrival is also very important. I found it very interesting that Africans played such a shaping role in the founding of the colonies and this is important background information to understanding the slaves and their long road to freedom.

I think it was an interesting documentary. I think it is worth looking more into to background information of the early settlers. I also believe looking more into the African Americans slave trade would be smart. Moreover, in the documentary they mention that each generation of colonist grow further and further from being British. I think this will be interesting to look more into this. Why did this happen? Who did they feel a sense of belonging to? Etc.

This was a great video to look at. I believe we can figure out more about the very beginning of settlers in America. The part of rebelling the British is extremely valuable as well, we can not skip through that, and at least mention some of it in our project.

I like this documentary and the information that is being told. I like how the narrator states that America is founded on tobacco and how for the next century and a half itās the continents largest export. I also found that the act of rebellion against taxes changes so much. Itās interesting how all the media and propaganda during that time was so different than how it is now and that the media shaped America so differently than how the media shapes America now to the rest of the world.

This documentary can significantly help us in our project about freedom and slavery. By getting a general knowledge of the background we are able to go more in depth with our project. By learning about what the people were fighting about and how slavery was used allows us to understand our topic more. The fact that the country was heavily founded on tobacco also allows us to see another way that slavery was used in early America.

It talks about a few things that can lead us in the right direction for our topic. It talks about the slaves and how they played a big part for the nation. It also talks about tobacco and how it was the number one leading export. This gives us a better understanding of the time period of our topic.

Now watching the whole documentary, the most important take away is what everyones dream was. It is important to understand that everybody came to America for freedom and that is the reasoning behind the Boston Tea Party. It’s interesting to know that tobacco had such a large effect, and that is was the top exported good. It really helped set the stage.

This documentary could become significant in helping us with our research on the topic of slavery and freedom in Connecticut in 1774. By better explaining the Boston Massacre and it’s importance in the beginning of the war we are able to understand the route of the war and learn that it was a driving force in the feisty behavior found in the American people. It is also key to emphasize the Boston Tea Party which became a large moral booster for rebellious Americans. We need to continue our research about the slave trade and hopefully find more information there as well. Since we know that tobacco was a large source of trade and has a tedious creation process, slaves were probably very active in that field of work. We know Suffield had a lot of tobacco farms and still does, we also know Suffield was one of the first suppliers of cigars in the new world. How did this impact the slave trade?
